There’s something special about starting the school day together—and our seniors did just that! ☀️
On Friday, August 21, at 6:30 AM, our seniors gathered on the North Stokes football field for Senior Sunrise, kicking off their final year with plenty of laughter, games, friendship, and school spirit. 🏈💚
From playing games on the track to gathering under the colorful parachute, these students made memories that will last long after the sun came up. 🌅🎉
Senior year is officially underway, Vikings! Enjoy every moment, make every memory count, and remember just how quickly this year will fly by.
💚 Here’s to the Class of 2027! 💚

What better way to welcome students back than with a little creativity, school spirit, and Viking pride?
Our talented students, along with Ms. Sapp, put their artistic skills to work painting the North Stokes Rock! 🖌️🎨 From sketching the design to adding the finishing touches, these students showed creativity, teamwork, patience, and pride in their school.
The finished rock is a true reflection of what it means to be a North Stokes Viking — bold, creative, and proud! 💚💛
A huge thank you to Ms. Sapp and our amazing student artists for taking the time to create something special for our school community. We love seeing our students use their talents to make North Stokes a place they can be proud to call home!
🏔️🎨 Welcome to Viking Territory!

Our Foods 1 students put their culinary skills to work by making delicious Red Lobster-style Cheddar Bay Biscuits! 👩🍳👨🍳
This hands-on activity was about much more than making a tasty snack. Students practiced:
🔹 Measuring accurately — learning how precision affects the final product
🔹 Following a recipe — reading and following directions in sequence
🔹 Baking techniques — learning how ingredients interact during the baking process
🔹 Kitchen safety & sanitation — using equipment properly and maintaining a clean workspace
🔹 Teamwork & time management — working together to complete each step efficiently
🔹 Food science — observing how ingredients combine and how heat transforms the dough into a finished product
The best classroom lessons are sometimes the ones you can measure, mix, bake, and taste! 😋
Way to go, Foods 1! We love seeing our students build real-world skills they can use for life. 💚

Our students recently took on a hands-on project that put their design, math, problem-solving, and construction skills to work!
Students started by identifying a need and then:
📏 Took measurements of an actual hammer
✏️ Created their own design
📋 Developed a material list
📐 Designed a cut list
🧮 Applied construction math
🪚 Used a square, compound miter saw, band saw, and belt sander
🔧 Used a pneumatic nailer to assemble their finished product
This project truly encompassed every facet of the process—from recognizing a need, developing a design, calculating materials and measurements, to producing a functional product.
We are proud of the creativity, teamwork, and hands-on skills our students demonstrated! 💚
This is learning by doing! 👏🔨

Our Foods 1 students are getting hands-on during their Nutrition Unit! Students recently used a BMI/body composition machine to learn more about the different components that make up the human body.
The activity provided students with information about weight, body fat, muscle mass, bone mass, body hydration, daily calorie needs, metabolic age, and visceral fat. 📊
This hands-on experience helped students connect classroom nutrition concepts to real-world information while learning that health is about much more than a number on a scale. Students were able to explore how nutrition, activity, and overall wellness can impact the body.
We love seeing our students learning through meaningful, real-world experiences! 💚

Mrs. Hunter is creating a space where students can read, relax, play, and connect! 💚
The library now has puzzles, Connect 4, and comic books available for students to enjoy. Whether they want to challenge a friend to a game, work on a puzzle, or explore a comic book, there’s something for everyone!
The goal is to make the library more than just a place to check out books—it’s a place where students can engage, socialize, unwind, and have fun while they’re here. 📚✨
🎲 Help Us Build Our Game Collection!
Mrs. Hunter is looking for donations of card games, board games, puzzles, and other fun activities that students can enjoy in the library. If you have gently used games or activities sitting at home that you no longer need, consider donating them to the NSHS Library!
Every donation helps us create more opportunities for students to connect, have fun, and enjoy their time in the library. 💚
Stop by the library and see what’s new!

Learning comes to life in Mrs. Heath’s Child Development classroom! Students recently participated in a creative, hands-on activity where they designed and decorated “My Ideal Family” picture frames.
This activity allowed students to explore the concept of family and the many different ways families can look and function. As students created their frames, they were encouraged to think about the qualities, relationships, traditions, and values that are important in a family. Through discussion and creative expression, students were able to connect classroom concepts to their own ideas and experiences.
Activities like this help students develop more than just artistic skills. They encourage self-expression, communication, critical thinking, decision-making, and an understanding of relationships and family dynamics. Hands-on projects also provide students with opportunities to learn in a meaningful way while working collaboratively and sharing ideas with their classmates.
We love seeing our Vikings engaged in learning that connects classroom content to real-life experiences! Thank you, Mrs. Heath, for creating meaningful learning opportunities for our students. 💚
